Cycling with a sea view between Kingsdown and Deal along the Kent coast

My absolute favourite cycle ride is between Kingsdown and Deal along the Kent coast. We start at the Zetland Arms right on the sea front in Kingsdown, near the bottom of the white cliffs, where their crab sandwich is my favourite! We then follow the cycle route right along the sea front, perhaps popping into Walmer Castle for a look around and a coffee in the gardens. Then it’s on to Deal, passing Deal Castle and all the fishing boats. Just past the pier, The Black Douglas Café is well worth a visit and there are some lovely little shops up the far end of the high street for a bit of a shop.

It’s not a very long ride, maybe four or five miles, but you can carry on through the golf course and along the ancient byway to the beautiful old town of Sandwich if you want to make a day or two of it.
